A place to discuss changes that may or may not be happening at slower.net in the indeterminate future
Inspiration from the essay work posted here:

Update 26 February
- Added preloading of next page’s photos
- Tried to address the homepage thing sometimes not opening
- Made title/pages text over homepage thumbs into links
- Increased homepage thumb size
- Increased max photo dimensions
- Tried to address the 1px bounce on that Apple browser
- Replaced universally derided lavender hues with blue
- Adjusted navigation colors
Update 2 March
- Still thinking about the site. I’m optimistic about the concept - I feel very close to through with “singles” photo blogging (close enough that Flickr meets the need, anyway) - but there are still some unresolved issues. I’m not happy with the sharpness of the auto-resized photos, and I agree with some commenters that the homepage is not quite right.
- I’m also not sure what to do about photo size. Big has the obvious appeal, but a few old-schoolers have argued that if a picture doesn’t pop at 500px, it’s just not happening.
- A couple people have suggested that they would come back less often or leave fewer comments at the new site. That’s fine. The hope is that when then did visit or comment, it would be a more meaningful experience for us both.
- What should a feed look like for a site like this?
- Please keep thinking about it and commenting here. I need the help.
Update 3 March
- Resized images are now sharper. For technical details see the (riveting) post about ImageMagick.
