Update: The current release of Admiral has some problems with new-style Flickr/Yahoo authorization. I hope to release a new version in early 2006. Thanks for your patience.

Update: Version 0.0.3 released. All required PEAR files now included in the distribution.

Cutting bait on the Enfailure, here is a make-up gift. It is a little tool you install on your server to display your Flickr sets as a gallery on your own site. Everything is cached and thus after the set’s pages are built, it doesn’t depend on Flickr. Here’s an example set:

The look of the gallery is customizable, but the default is slower-like:

I get that error whenever I try to build. Sorry for the messy code in the comments. Probably a problem with my PEAR installtion?

My install’s throwing similar errors. It appears that phpflickr can’t find the PEAR parts that it needs.

Any suggestion on exactly where to place those PEAR folders in relation to the phpFlickr folder? Interesting that my error and Supercommon’s shares that “BASE_PATHlib/”. In my config file, a made sure to use trailing slashes.

Ok, the problems with the include directories…. mea culpa. I messed up in my phpFlickr class. You should be able to go to my homepage and download the latest version and replace the version that Eliot packaged with 0.0.3 to fix those problems. Again, sorry for those troubles.

Very nice, but i get an The Flickr API returned error code #99: Insufficient permissions. Method requires read privileges; none granted. error.

This happens when the login() method from the flickr object is called
$this->flickr->login(FLICKR_LOGIN_EMAIL, FLICKR_LOGIN_PASSWORD);

So I need to give the script authorization inside Flickr, but where/how can I do this? When logged in into Flickr, I can view which apps have persmission, but can’t manually add one.

No manual permissions required. Just add your Flickr login information in lib/config.inc.php.

Look for these:
FLICKR_LOGIN_EMAIL
FLICKR_LOGIN_PASSWORD

Elliot, that’s exactly what I did.

Maybe it’s because I signed up for Flickr yesterday and the whole registration thing has changed (Yahoo got involved and such) cos’ at the Flickr site I have to sign in with the Yahoo! ID I received, and not with a flickr.com account.

Me again (with the login problems since I’m using a Yahoo ID). Read this at the phpflickr website:

What this means for you, the developer. … If you’re still using the old, depreciated methods, new Flickr users (and old users who link their accounts) will not be able to log into your apps. This is the time to update your application before they shut it off forever.

The problem is that the new auth method has no provision for non-interactive login. So Admiral needs an extensive rewrite to build pages only on the adminstrator’s command.

I’m enjoying seeing Admiral in action on makralor.com… Any chance of tweaking flickr’s rss feed for a particular user and republishing it for the site Admiral is running…. or just creating a new one from scratch for new images….
